Key Staff

Shane Wills BSc(Hons) FCA | shane@esw.co.uk

Shane founded ESW in 1996, having trained and qualified within small and medium sized firms in London and the South East. He has an excellent knowledge, and vast experience, of accounting, taxation and general financial matters applying to a variety of clients at all levels.

Shane believes his biggest achievement at ESW has been to bring together a team of likeminded, professional and approachable people.

Steve Cracknell FCA | steve@esw.co.uk

Steve joined ESW in May 2007 and was appointed as a Director on 1 November 2007.

Steve has more than 20 years experience in general accountancy practice. He trained and qualified at a medium sized Southend practice before moving on to one of the largest accountancy firms in the local area. Latterly, Steve has spent some 7 years as a senior partner at another local firm.

Steve’s role is to promote the continuing development of ESW whilst ensuring that all of our clients receive the best possible service.

Paula Fricker | paula@esw.co.uk

Paula Fricker joined ESW in 2003 as an accounting and audit manager having trained with a large Southend practice.

Paula has a wealth of experience dealing with the accounting, audit and taxation affairs of a wide range of clientele from the sole proprietor and family run business to the larger and more diverse such as property development, public houses, hotels, restaurants etc. Paula also has experience dealing with clientele from regulated industries covering medical practitioners, solicitors, pension funds, small charities, travel agencies and FSA regulated clients.

In addition Paula deals with the implementation of accounting and payroll systems, software and training specialising in software packages such as Sage and QuickBooks.

Amy Wood ACCA MAAT | amy@esw.co.uk

Amy Wood joined ESW in 2003 as an accounting and audit manager having initially trained in a small local practice whilst obtaining her Association of Accounting Technician qualification and commencing her Chartered Certified Accountant training. Amy then joined a top 20 firm of Accountants in London in their audit department where she qualified in 1999.

Amy has vast experience in dealing with the accounting and auditing functions of a wide range of clientele ranging from PLC’s to the smaller owner managed business, with trades including property investment, demolition , retailers, telecommunications and the construction industry.

Amy together with Paula are responsible for implementing the firms’ compliance and staff training to ensure an overall high standard of work is generated by the practice.

Bekki Vincent ACA | bekki@esw.co.uk

Bekki is the latest addition to the ESW management team, having joined the firm in July 2007. Bekki initially trained at a large Southend practice before moving to a top 20 firm of Accountants based in Chelmsford in 2004 where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Bekki has extensive experience of the accounts and audit of a wide variety of businesses ranging from small traders to very large companies and covering a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, retail and wholesale distribution, advertising and publishing etc.

Paula, Amy and Bekki manage their own client portfolios and are jointly responsible for technical compliance as well as staff training and development to ensure the firm maintains the highest possible standards.

Jim Rhind ATII MSFA | jim@esw.co.uk

Jim joined ESW in March 2004 as a tax consultant manager. In addition to being a qualified chartered taxation advisor Jim is also a qualified independent financial adviser.

Jim brings to the firm over 30 years of experience in advising individuals and owner managed businesses in all aspects of taxation. Jim has in the past been employed by major city firms of chartered accountants and for a time was Assistant Vice President (Taxation Europe) for a US owned financial services multinational. In recent years Jim has become a consultant to accounting practices, firms of solicitors and independent financial advisers.

Annette Putnam | annette@esw.co.uk

Annette Putnam joined ESW in 2005 coming from a London practice where she managed the in house bookkeeping sector.

Annette manages and prepares management accounts and vat returns using computerised accounting based software packages including Sage for a varied client portfolio including public houses, retailers, telecommunication suppliers, builders etc.

She also undertakes assignments to advise clients on how they can improve their accounting systems.

Jodie Russell | jodie@esw.co.uk

Jodie Russell joined ESW in 2006 as payroll manager having gained a number of years experience in practice and specialises in payroll operation and management, construction industry regulations and HR.

Jodie manages our payroll bureau for a wide range of clientele dealing with day to day payroll operational requirements, assisting both contractors and subcontractors within the construction industry and providing general advice to clients on various employment issues and legislation. 

Jodie also assists and advises clients on the implementation of payroll software and provides training for in-house systems.

Support Staff and Trainees

ESW also has an excellent team of support staff and ‘part qualified’/trainee accountants.

We are dedicated to providing excellent internal and external support and tuition for our trainees; as well as continued professional development for our qualified staff.
